Here at Modern Sounds Vinyl and Music, we’re counting down the days until Record Store Day 2024! It’s a day that embodies everything we love about being a part of Boise’s vibrant music scene: discovering new sounds, connecting with fellow music enthusiasts, and celebrating the unique experience of independent record stores. This passion for music is exactly what fueled my dream of opening Modern Sounds.

From Dream to Reality: My Passion for Tangible Music

Opening Modern Sounds wasn’t just a business decision. It was a dream come true. Ever since I was a kid, flipping through record bins and buying my first albums, I knew I wanted to create a space where music lovers could share that same passion. In 2019, I opened Modern Sounds part-time, but when the pandemic hit just two months later, I faced a turning point. During that closure, I took a leap of faith and committed to Modern Sounds full-time.

Join the Fun! Record Store Day Festivities Await

Mark your calendars for April 20th – Record Store Day! We’ll be opening our doors bright and early at 8:00 AM, ready to share the excitement with you. All those exclusive releases we have in stock will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, so be prepared to join the line early and secure your most-wanted titles. Remember, we can’t take holds or pre-orders, so set your alarms and get ready for a fun-filled event!

But that’s not all! Starting at 3:00 PM, join us for Free Live Music to celebrate RSD featuring performances from Sef Idle, The Mongoloids, and We Are You. Our outdoor beer garden will be open to everyone over 21, pouring beer from RSD Beer Gurus Dogfish Head. And if you’re feeling peckish, fear not – delicious food and more beverages will be available from Jumpin’ Janet’s Boise. It’s going to be an epic day of music, drinks, and celebration! Don’t miss out on the festivities.
